1. INTRODUCTION In the reporting period, a total of thirty-four (34) incidents were recorded through the WANEP National Early Warning System (NEWS), 1 as part of the Monthly Conflict Census. These incidents included four (4) fatalities and nine (9) injuries arising from a range of causes namely: road accidents, murder and drug trafficking. 2 As depicted in the thematic graph below, the Democracy and Governance theme recorded the highest number of incidents with nineteen (19) incidents, while the Organized Crime and Violent Extremism theme recorded a total of fifteen (15) incidents during the reporting period. No incidents were recorded on Environmental Security theme and Gender, Peace and Security theme. Geographically, Banjul registered the highest number of incidents with a total of sixteen (16), followed by the West Coast Region with eight (8) incidents. The Kanifing Municipality recorded seven (7) incidents, while Lower River Region, Central River Region and North Bank Region recorded one (1) incident each. No incidents were recorded in the Upper River Region.
