Happening Now: WANEP-The Gambia Trains Community Monitors for Long-Term Election Observation
WANEP-The Gambia is currently hosting a two-day training workshop for community monitors and data reporters, building capacity in early warning system monitoring and reporting.
This training is part of the European Union-funded project, “Electoral Violence Monitoring, Analysis and Mitigation (E-MAM),” being implemented by the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP) across twelve West African countries. The project aims to strengthen regional and national capacities that promote peaceful electoral processes and political stability in countries holding elections between 2023 and 2026.
The workshop specifically contributes to the operationalization of the online reporting platform “GAMBIAELECTS,” equipping monitors with the skills to detect and report electoral risks in real time.
Through initiatives like this, WANEP-The Gambia continues to strengthen the tools and human capacity needed to safeguard peaceful, transparent, and credible elections.
